SHIPPING & DELIVERY

How we get you — and your medical records — where they need to go.

Let's be honest: this looks like an e-commerce shipping policy. It's not. We're a medical travel company. "Shipping" here means how we deliver your care — from the moment your plane lands, to the day you walk out of our partner hospital with a full English medical record in hand.

What we "deliver" to you

Airport Pickup

Send us your flight number. We'll be holding a sign with your name at baggage claim. Private car, no waiting around.

Hospital Companion

Your dedicated care coordinator walks you through every appointment. Translation included. You're never alone in a Chinese hospital.

Medical Records

Full English translation of your discharge summary, lab results, and imaging — ready before you fly home.

24/7 Support

Middle of the night, post-surgery, something feels off? Your coordinator picks up the phone. Always.

How your medical records get home

This is the part people actually mean when they say "shipping." Here's exactly how it works:

  • Within 7 business days after discharge, we prepare your complete English medical file — discharge summary, lab reports, imaging discs, and a full prescription list.
  • You choose: instant secure cloud download (link sent the same day), or international DHL/FedEx express shipping (3–5 business days to your door).
  • Shipping cost is calculated at checkout. We don't mark it up.

What we don't ship: Prescription medications overseas. Customs laws vary by country, and it's not worth the risk. We'll give you a complete English prescription so your doctor back home can refill it.

F.A.Q.S

Visa & Entry

Do I need a visa to come to China for medical treatment?

Most eligible US passport holders can use the 240-hour visa-free transit policy for short medical trips, provided the trip meets the transit rule requirements — you will enter China and then continue onward to a third country before departure. We will help you confirm your specific itinerary qualifies before you book.

Can I fly direct round-trip from the US to China and still use the visa-free policy?

The 240-hour visa-free policy applies to transit travel, meaning your entry and exit must align with the transit route rules. A direct round-trip from the US back to the US typically does not meet transit eligibility requirements; we will review your itinerary and advise on compliant routing options during consultation.

How long can I stay in China under the visa-free policy for medical treatment?

The standard visa-free stay is up to 240 hours (10 days). For treatments requiring longer recovery, we will coordinate with you on extended stay options or appropriate visa arrangements as needed.

What documents do I need to show at immigration for medical travel?

You will need a valid US passport, your confirmed onward travel ticket to a third country, and a printout of your clinic appointment confirmation. Our team will provide all required documents in English before your trip.

I have a minor criminal record — can I still enter China?

Entry eligibility is determined by Chinese border authorities at the time of arrival. We recommend reviewing current entry rules with your travel provider, and we will provide all medical documentation you need for your trip.

Do you help with hotel and transfers while I am in China?

Yes, we arrange airport pickup, hotel stays near the clinic, and translation support for all your appointments as part of the coordination package.

Can my family member travel with me?

Yes, you are welcome to bring a companion. We can arrange double rooms, companion meals, and family waiting areas at the clinic as requested.

What if my treatment takes longer than expected?

We coordinate with the clinic and your hotel on flexible extensions, and will adjust your itinerary as needed based on your physician's recovery guidance. We coordinate with the clinic and your hotel on flexible extensions, and will adjust your itinerary as needed based on your physician's recovery guidance.

Medical Credentials & Hospitals

Are the hospitals you work with accredited?

We primarily work with JCI-accredited tertiary hospitals in major Chinese cities, that meet international standards for patient care. We will share the specific hospital's credentials and physician bios for your chosen treatment before you commit.

Are the doctors board-certified?

All treating physicians are licensed Chinese medical practitioners with specialized training in their field, and many have international training or fellowship experience. We will share each physician's credentials and years of relevant experience during consultation.

Do the doctors speak English?

The hospitals we work with have English-speaking patient coordinators on site, and we provide a dedicated medical interpreter for all your appointments and procedures, so you will not need to navigate medical conversations in Mandarin.

How do I know which treatment is right for me?

We do not make treatment recommendations ourselves — our role is to coordinate your consultation with the treating physician, who will review your records, assess your case, and recommend an appropriate plan based on your individual needs.

Can I bring my old medical records from the US?

Absolutely. We ask you to share your prior imaging, test results, and treatment history 2-4 weeks before your trip, so the care team can review your case in advance. We will translate all records to English for you.

What if the doctor recommends a different treatment than I expected?

All treatment decisions are made by your physician after in-person evaluation. We will help you review all options, ask questions, and understand the risks and benefits of each recommendation before you consent to any procedure.

Are the hospitals clean and up to international standards?

The facilities we partner with follow international infection control and safety protocols for international patients. You are welcome to request a virtual facility tour before your trip.

Do you work with private, single-patient operating rooms?

Yes, most procedures are performed in private, dedicated operatory rooms with one patient per room, in line with standard international patient protocols.

Pricing & Fees

How much will my treatment cost?

Pricing varies based on your specific treatment, hospital, physician, and chosen travel package. After you share your case details, we will provide a transparent, itemized quote with all costs broken out.

Why is treatment in China cheaper than in the US?

Hospital operating costs and physician fees are generally lower in China compared to the US, while many JCI hospitals offer comparable technology and care standards. The exact cost difference will depend on your specific treatment.

Are there any hidden fees?

No. All quotes we provide split hospital fees, our coordination service fee, and travel costs separately. There are no surprise add-ons; any additional costs will be discussed and agreed with you in writing before you pay.

Do you charge the hospital fee and service fee separately?

Yes. We collect our coordination service fee directly, and all hospital fees are paid either directly to the hospital or to the hospital's official international patient account — we do not mark up hospital charges.

What currency are prices quoted in?

All our quotes are in US dollars for your convenience.

Do you accept credit cards?

Yes, we accept major international credit cards for our service fee. Hospital payments can be made via the hospital's international payment portal, which also supports major cards.

Is there a deposit required?

A partial deposit is typically required to lock your appointment and hospital slot; the remaining balance is due before your procedure. We will share the exact deposit amount and payment schedule in your quote.

Can I get a refund if I cancel?

Refund policies vary by hospital and treatment type. We will share the full cancellation and refund terms in writing before you book, including which fees are non-refundable and under what conditions.

Does my US health insurance cover treatment in China?

Most US domestic insurance plans do not cover overseas treatment by default. We will provide all itemized receipts, medical records, and documentation you may need for reimbursement claims, but whether your claim is approved and how much is reimbursed is entirely determined by your own US insurance policy — we cannot control or guarantee insurance outcomes.

Are travel costs included in the treatment price?

Our packages let you choose between standalone hospital coordination, or a bundled treatment + travel package (including hotel, transfers, and optional tourism add-ons). You can select whichever option fits your needs.

Privacy & Data Security

Is my medical information protected?

We handle your personal health information in line with China's Personal Information Protection Law (PIPL), and our data security practices are aligned with HIPAA standards for international patient records. We will never share your health information with third parties without your explicit consent.

Does HIPAA apply to Chinese hospitals?

HIPAA is a US federal law that applies to US healthcare providers and covered entities. Chinese hospitals follow Chinese health data regulations, but the partner hospitals we work with use HIPAA-aligned security practices for international patient records. We will share our full privacy policy for review before you share any medical information.

Who can see my medical records after my treatment?

Your medical records are held by the treating hospital, and a copy is shared with you in English. We will send a summary report to your home physician in the US if you provide their contact information and sign a release form.

Will my data be shared with the Chinese government?

Hospitals share required patient data with national health authorities as required by Chinese law, in line with standard hospital reporting practices. Your personal identifiable information is protected under PIPL.

Can I request my full medical records in English?

Yes. Before you depart China, you will receive a complete English-language medical report, including imaging files, procedure notes, and follow-up care instructions.

What if I have privacy concerns about sharing my records online?

We use encrypted, secure file transfer for all medical records. You can also choose to share records in person during your consultation if you prefer.

Process & Follow-up

What is the typical process from inquiry to my trip?

The standard flow is: initial inquiry → records review → virtual consultation recommendation → custom quote → deposit to lock appointment → travel planning → on-site coordination during your stay → English follow-up report sent home.

How far in advance should I book?

We recommend booking 3-6 weeks in advance to secure your preferred physician and hospital slot, though we can accommodate shorter timelines when availability allows.

Do I need to do anything to prepare before my surgery?

Your physician will give you personalized pre-procedure instructions, and our team will share a full pre-trip checklist 1 week before you arrive.

What happens if there is a complication during my stay?

All care is provided by the on-site hospital team at our partner facilities, which we have vetted to provide full, around-the-clock emergency care. Our own care coordination team is also available around the clock during your stay to help communicate with the hospital and assist with any needs you may have.

Do I get follow-up care after I return to the US?

You will receive an English post-treatment report and follow-up instructions, which you can share with your home physician. We also offer remote check-ins with the care team for the first 3 months after your procedure, as needed.

How long is the recovery period?

Recovery time varies widely by treatment type and individual patient. Your physician will give you a personalized recovery timeline before your procedure, including when it is safe to fly home.

Can I extend my trip for tourism after my treatment?

Absolutely. We offer optional bundled tourism add-ons to popular destinations (Yunnan, Zhangjiajie, Beijing, Jiuzhaigou, etc.) after your recovery period, aligned with your visa-free stay window.

What if I need emergency care after I return to the US?

We provide all documentation your home care team needs to support you locally. We cannot provide emergency care inside the US, but our team is available to help coordinate with your treating physician if questions arise.

Responsibility & Expectations

What kind of results can I expect?

Results vary widely by treatment, patient age, baseline condition, and healing response. Your physician will give you realistic expectations for your specific case; we do not guarantee specific cosmetic or clinical outcomes.

Who is responsible if something goes wrong during treatment?

All medical decisions and treatment are delivered by the licensed hospital and treating physician, who bear full medical liability for your care. We are responsible for our coordination services, and our liability for coordination issues is limited to the service fee you have paid. We will share our full terms of service for your review before you reserve your appointment.

Do you handle medical malpractice claims?

Medical malpractice matters are between you and the treating hospital/physician. We will help coordinate with the hospital and translate all relevant documentation, but we are not a party to your medical care agreement.

Are there any language barriers during my stay?

We provide a dedicated English medical interpreter for all your appointments, and our on-site team speaks English. Most international patient staff at our partner hospitals also speak conversational English.

What if I don't feel comfortable with the recommended hospital or doctor?

You can request a second opinion from another partner hospital at any point before you commit, at no additional coordination fee.

Is the water and food safe for foreigners?

Our partner hotels and clinics follow international patient hospitality standards. We recommend drinking bottled water, which is provided free at all your accommodations.

Do I need vaccinations to travel to China?

Standard routine travel vaccinations are recommended, and we will share a current travel health advisory before your trip.

Can you help me rebook my flight if my recovery takes longer than expected?

Yes, our team can help coordinate flight changes with your airline if your physician recommends an extended stay.

What if I have more questions after I book?

You will have a dedicated English coordinator available via WhatsApp/email for your entire trip, from your first inquiry through 3 months after you return home.

Why should I choose CCMT instead of booking the hospital directly?

We eliminate the friction of arranging cross-border care: we pre-screen hospitals and physicians, translate all records and reports, arrange your full itinerary, provide on-site interpretation, and coordinate between you, the hospital, and your home physician — so you can focus on your care instead of navigating a foreign healthcare system on your own.
